  • Capio Group Services AB, the largest healthcare provider in Sweden, subsidiary of Ramsay Santé, is awarded today, the assignment to provide care at St. Göran's Hospital on behalf of the region, during the next contract period starting 4 January 2026.
  • The procurement of care and operations at St. Göran's Hospital has been completed and the award decision was made by the Health and Medical Care Board at its regular meeting on 22 October.
  • The decision means that Capio may continue to run the business during the next contract period. The agreement is valid from 2026-01-04 for eight years, with the right for Region Stockholm to extend the agreement for a maximum of four years.
  • The contract is one of the largest in the region and the contract value, calculated over 12 years, amounts to EUR 4.8 billion (SEK 55 billion).

Our judgement is that this is a good decision that will provide residents with continued good care at a reasonable cost to taxpayers. In the long term, it will be even better for both patients and staff, while the hospital will have a clearer role in the region's security and emergency preparedness work.

Eva Bring, Head of Department at the Health and Medical Services Administration.
Britta Wallgren, CEO of Capio in Sweden and I, are very proud to have the opportunity to continue to run St Göran's Hospital and develop the future of healthcare, on behalf of the Region to the benefit of our employees, our patients and their families.

Pascal Roché, CEO of Ramsay Santé group.
Three suppliers fulfilled the requirements and were invited to tender for the contract. Of these three suppliers, only Capio chose to submit a tender. The other two declined to submit a bid. St Göran's Hospital is one of the seven acute care hospitals in the Stockholm Region, and the only one run by a private operator. The hospital is an important part of the overall emergency care in the region and its mission is to provide acute and planned somatic medical care in outpatient and inpatient settings to meet the healthcare needs of the residents. The new contract essentially reflects a very large range of care at St Göran's Hospital, which encompasses Emergency, planned care, maternity, oncology. Etc.

The hospital is located on Kungsholmen in Stockholm since 1989.
